Inspirations

Writing tends to happen in isolation...
I enjoy writing in the morning, when the day has yet to fill my head. I get up before the sun rises and sit in the glow of a computer screen for a few hours. In that time, I listen to music.
For me, the mood of the music influences the tone of the writing. I listen mostly to instrumental, as I find lyrics to be too distracting.
Along these lines, I like to read in the evening. The books also have sway over how I approach my writing. I am a firm believer that one should read as much as possible. Read the good, read the bad, read with a fine toothed comb. Look at what you like about the writing, and look for things you'd want to avoid.
Below, I have included the mediums that inspired me as I wrote Beyond the Fallen Timber. The music I listened to both in the process of writing and in the subsequent edits. Also the three books that had tremendous influence on what I wrote and inspired me to write.
